The Name Came First
Cody is my son. Wayne comes from my own middle name — Dewayne.
Put them together and you get Cody Wayne: a name built out of family, which is exactly the right foundation for a brand about heritage. Everything else grew from there.
A Long Time Coming
I first had the idea for this brand back in 2007.
At the time I was deep into building another company, so Cody Wayne went on the back burner — but it never left me. Some ideas won't let go. For years it sat there, waiting, while I told myself I'd come back to it when the time was right.
The time got right. Cody Wayne Jeans is that idea, finally built.
Why the West
I grew up in the South. Not near it, not visiting it — in it, in the culture of it, in the food and the faith and the front porches and the way people carry themselves down here.
And I grew up loving the West. Cowboy movies were my thing as a kid. Something about that world — the grit, the freedom, the wide-open promise of it — grabbed me early and never let go.
But here's what I came to understand: the West I loved on screen left people out. It left out the Black cowboys who worked the cattle trails. The Black rodeo riders who filled the arenas. The families who worked Southern land for generations and built a whole culture on it. That history is real, it's deep, and it's been quietly written out of the picture for a hundred years.
People of color built the West. Built the South. Built American culture as we know it. That contribution deserves to be seen.
What We Make
Cody Wayne Jeans is Western and Southern heritage apparel — graphic tees that tell those stories out loud.
Our collections are built around the people and places history tried to forget. Roots & Legacy honors the figures who shaped Black American history. Country Soul captures the lived texture of Southern country life — dirt roads, front porches, cookouts, rodeo dust, Sunday mornings. Harlem Circus & Rodeo celebrates a legacy of Black performance and showmanship most people never learned about.
Every design starts as a story worth telling. I'm an artist first — I've always loved creating, and the visions come easy when the subject matters this much to me. Nothing here is a generic Western graphic pulled off a shelf. Each piece is designed with intention, researched with care, and made to mean something.
What We Want You to Feel
Pride.
That's it. That's the whole goal.
When you pull on a Cody Wayne tee, we want you to feel connected to something — to a history that's yours, to a culture that shaped this country, to the people who rode, worked, sang, prayed, and built long before anybody thought to give them credit.
The West wasn't just for cowboys. It belonged to anyone with the spirit to claim it. That's still true. Wear it like you know.

Cody Wayne Jeans is a small, independent, family-named brand operating out of Georgia under J Willit LLC.
Every item is made to order. Nothing is mass-produced in bulk and warehoused — your shirt gets made because you ordered it, which cuts down on overproduction and waste. It takes a little longer to reach you. We think it's worth it, and we appreciate you being the kind of customer who thinks so too.
